We took time today to enjoy lunch at a true Brunswick institution: Twin Oaks BBQ, and it reminded us exactly why this place has earned its legendary status.
From the moment we walked in, the service set the tone. Smiles all around, genuine hospitality, and a warmth that feels less like dining out and more like coming home. It’s the kind of welcome that lets you know you’re somewhere special.
Paul ordered the BBQ chipped sandwich, a classic choice that he thoroughly enjoyed, tender, flavorful meat piled high and done just right. I opted for the combo plate with ribs and BBQ chicken, and it did not disappoint. Both were smoky, tender, and well-seasoned, with a peppered spice rub that shone even brighter when paired with the house BBQ sauce waiting on the table.

The sides deserve their own spotlight. The onion rings were crunchy and golden, coated in the same batter that has made Twin Oaks’ French fries famous for generations. And the Brunswick stew, hearty, chunky, and deeply satisfying, was loaded with corn, lima beans, peas, chicken, and pork. Its tangy-sweet flavor was unmistakably authentic, the kind of stew that only Brunswick, Georgia, can lay claim to.

The Back Room Experience: Dining with a Brunswick Original
If you go, and you should, be sure to dine in the back room, where Linda has been serving BBQ for over 50 years. With her spiked hair and colorful socks, she’s as much a fixture as the tables themselves. Her down-home friendliness and easy charm perfectly capture the spirit of Twin Oaks.
Established in 1943, Twin Oaks BBQ is steeped in local history. Many customers have been coming since childhood, recalling memories of cruising through the parking lot in the 1950s and ’60s or pulling up for a Coke and fries from the curb hop. Some longtime patrons even say their parents met here on their first date. That kind of legacy can’t be manufactured.
Twin Oaks BBQ remains a must-stop for locals and visitors alike. If you’re in Brunswick and craving authentic local flavor served with a side of history, Twin Oaks is the place to be.
