It was one of those gorgeous Saturday afternoons on Saint Simons Island—sunny skies, a light breeze, and just the right kind of weekend pace. PC and I had spent some time wandering through Crafts in the Village and soaking up the vibe at Pier Village before heading over to Redfern Village to browse at Righton Books.
When we finally stepped outside, hunger hit—and suddenly the brilliant idea popped into our heads: lunch at Fancy Q.
Fancy Q is one of those spots that has something for everyone. Sushi lovers, yes—but you’re covered even if you’re not into sushi. Teriyaki, tempura, yaki udon, hibachi…plus soups, salads, and even a kids’ menu. They serve beer, wine, and a few sake options, and if you’re looking for a lighter meal, there’s a lunch menu with smaller portions and smaller prices.
But that day? Sushi was the plan.

We kicked things off with the tuna tataki appetizer. It was lightly seared, flavorful, and just the right way to start the meal.
Next came our rolls: a Tampa Roll (fried grouper, scallions, eel sauce) and a Spider Roll. Both rolls were fresh, and, honestly, irresistible. And the sashimi? Oh, the sashimi! The tuna practically melted in our mouths, and the eel sashimi was smoky and rich—definitely the stars of the show.

In addition, to what we ordered, our lunch also came with a little extra love: a complimentary crab appetizer and the house soup. Everything was delicious, and the portions were just right.

Furthermore, Fancy Q has both indoor and outdoor seating, and no matter where you sit, the hospitality is warm and friendly. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, take your time, and enjoy some really good food without feeling rushed.
In conclusion, lunch at Fancy Q was the perfect follow-up to a morning of browsing, strolling, and enjoying the island. If you’re ever in Redfern Village looking for a relaxed, delicious meal, this is definitely the spot to hit.
