While wandering through the Braderie South event on Jekyll Island, P.C. and I decided we needed a little break from all the walking and shopping. That’s when we stumbled into Founders Social Beer Garden — it was exactly what we needed. Cold drinks, tasty snacks, and a shady spot to sit down and recharge.

The Beer Garden is a little oasis located in the heart of the Historic District, and is surrounded by gorgeous moss-draped oaks and the Millionaires’ cottages that make Jekyll so special. You can grab a local craft beer, order an appetizer, salad, or sandwich, and relax for a while. While they have TVs for those wanting to catch the score on game day, when we were there, they had live music. We were happy to sit and soak up the atmosphere. The food hit the spot—nothing fussy, just good, shareable bites with a German flair that pair perfectly with a cold beer.

What I really loved was how it all tied together: the history, the setting, and the laid-back vibe. Founders Social feels like a modern little hideaway that fits into the island’s charm. We left refreshed and ready to dive back into the event. I know we’ll be back next time we visit Jekyll—I didn’t get a chance to try the latkes!

Be sure to keep give them a follow on Facebook to stay on top of the great lineup of music they have. Some of them happen to coincide with happy hours from 4-6 🍻 We just missed Ryder playing!
