Tucked just off Highway 341 at 5296 New Jesup Road in Brunswick, Georgia, 1800 Mexican Restaurant offers the kind of dependable, flavorful experience you’d hope for in a go-to American-Mexican eatery. PC and I stopped in for a late lunch on a Wednesday afternoon, when the restaurant was calm and uncrowded—ideal for a relaxed bite.
The ambiance was casual. Several TVs were mounted around the restaurant, each showing a different sports game, which gave the place a friendly, energetic vibe. The music playing overhead was on the louder side for my taste, but it wasn’t unpleasant—very upbeat.

LA COMIDA
Service was quick and welcoming. As soon as we placed our drink orders, a basket of warm, crisp tortilla chips and freshly made salsa arrived. Once our drinks were served, our waiter returned promptly to take our food order. The full menu is available during lunch hours, but there’s also a separate lunch menu on the back cover, featuring smaller portions and lower prices—a great value if you’re in the mood for something lighter.
I opted for #14 on the lunch menu: Speedy Gonzales. This plate includes a taco, an enchilada, and a generous serving of refried beans with cheese for just $9.50. You can choose between a beef or chicken taco, with a crunchy or soft shell; I opted for a crunchy beef taco topped with lettuce and cheese, and a chicken enchilada covered in red sauce. While the red sauce was flavorful, PC’s enchiladas came with a tangy green sauce that I found to be quite tasty—next time, I’ll definitely ask for the green sauce. Everything on the plate was hot, well-seasoned, and satisfying.

PC had #12: Enchiladas Verdes—two chicken enchiladas smothered in that delicious green sauce, served alongside Spanish rice and refried beans for just $8.99. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal and commented on how juicy the chicken was.
