St. Simons Island Craft Beer with Seasonal Flair
At its core, Barrier Island Brewing is a St. Simons Island craft brewery known for its creative beer lineup and rotating seasonal selections. One of our family favorites here is the Ocean Boulevard Blueberry Wheat Beer, a smooth and slightly sweet brew that genuinely tastes like a blueberry muffin, a true crowd-pleaser, and a great introduction to their beer style.
If it’s your first time, like with most breweries, it’s only right to get a flight. Try their Mexican Lager (my fave) and if you’re an IPA person, they usually have a couple to choose from. But if you’re not a beer lover, they have that covered too, with a superb selection of wines and craft cocktails or mock-tails, and everyone leaves happy.
But there is so much more than beer here! Barrier Island Brewing (BIB) also stands out for its full-service restaurant menu. Popular starters like the Beer Cheese Dip and Loaded Pretzel Board are perfect for sharing. Our favorite app: The Chip Skillet. BIB makes their own potato chips from scratch and it’s no joke. You can tell the minute you bite in, and the skillet is loaded up with sour cream, green onions, steak and that excellent beer cheese!
It’s comfort food done right, and far beyond what you’d expect from typical brewery fare. Do not miss the pub burger. It is a prime quality all beef burger with arugula, tomato, bacon-onion relish, garlic aioli and your choice of cheese — GET THE BEER CHEESE! Beyond that the pork chop sandwich is a favorite. Or class it up with Wild Georgia Shrimp and an amazing salad with Champagne dressing.
And don’t skip dessert! The beignets are amazing and served warm with chocolate, raspberry, and marshmallow sauces.
A Go-To St. Simons Island Sports Bar
With televisions throughout the brewery, Barrier Island Brewing doubles as one of the best places on St. Simons Island to watch sports. It’s an especially popular spot for UGA football games, but you’ll find just about any game you’re looking for on screen. The energetic vibe and killer service makes it ideal for gathering with friends.
