Maggie Mae’s Café Shines in Downtown Brunswick
PC and I recently found ourselves browsing through treasures at one of our favorite antique shops, Black Sheep Pickers. After browsing through the wide variety of vintage finds, we found ourselves peckish and craving a really good burger—and as luck would have it, Maggie Mae’s Downtown Café was just around the corner.
The warm, casual atmosphere welcomed us right in, and before long, we had placed our orders. I went with the Original burger—cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, mustard, and ketchup—all the classic toppings stacked high on a juicy patty. For my side, I chose tater tots (from a list of more than seven options) and asked for them extra crispy. They came out exactly the way I like, golden and crunchy.

PC opted for the Fly Boy, a burger layered with Swiss cheese, mushrooms, sauerkraut, and Thousand Island dressing; a nod to the Reuben sandwich. It was as hearty and flavorful as it sounds.
Both burgers were precisely what we craved—juicy, well-seasoned, and delicious.
It’s no surprise we enjoyed our meal so much—after all, this is where the cops eat, and that’s always a good sign. The waitresses could not exude more Southern hospitality; their attentive and cheerful service made the experience feel downright special. It was over-the-top in the best way possible.

Maggie Mae’s is more than just a burger spot, though. Open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. And for the breakfast lover, the café serves up breakfast all day. The breakfast menu is extensive, with everything from eggs cooked your way with traditional sides, to pancakes, omelets, biscuit sandwiches, wraps, bacon, sausage, ham, johnny links, and corned beef hash. And of course, no Southern breakfast menu would be complete without biscuits and gravy, which Maggie Mae’s delivers with true comfort-food flair.
For lunch, diners can enjoy an array of American favorites: burgers, hot dogs, hearty sandwiches, cheesy grilled varieties, crisp salads, and more. It’s the kind of place where you can come hungry and leave happy, no matter what you’re craving. Parking is convenient too, with spaces right out front and additional parking around back.

Whether you’re downtown for shopping, sightseeing, or just soaking up the charm of Brunswick, Maggie Mae’s Café makes a perfect stop. With friendly and fast service, generous portions, and a menu full of comfort-food classics, it’s the kind of spot you’ll want to return to again and again. Highly recommended—five stars from us!
